Atlassian has announced a major evolution of its pricing and billing model for Cloud environments, taking effect in late 2026. The model moves away from being based exclusively on licenses toward a hybrid scheme where real consumption and additional capabilities carry much more weight.
If your company uses Jira, Confluence or Jira Service Management, this is what you need to know — and how we at Quabu can help you minimize the impact.
1. Base price adjustment (October 13, 2026)
Starting October 13, 2026, Atlassian will apply an annual adjustment to the list prices of its Cloud portfolio.
- The economic impact will range between 0% and 10%, depending on the product and the plan you have subscribed.
- For example, Jira and Confluence Standard and Premium plans will see a 7% increase if you are below 5,000 users.
- These same plans will see a 10% increase if you are above 5,000 users.
2. Transition to usage-based billing (December 3, 2026)
December 3, 2026 kicks off the second big change: Atlassian adds an extra layer that bills the exact consumption of advanced capabilities exceeding the free monthly allowance included in your plan. The metrics that will start being charged for excess usage include:
- Rovo Credits (AI): Consumed when performing deep AI interactions.
- Automations: Each step executed by an automation rule is counted.
- AI Agent Resolution: Only counted and billed at 1 USD when the agent resolves and closes a customer's ticket 100% autonomously.
- Objects in Assets: Will vary depending on additional consumption.
As a customer, you will have an admin dashboard to monitor consumption. In addition, the system will send email alerts when reaching 80% and 100% of the free monthly allowance, and you will be able to set strict spending limits (Hard Caps) to pause services and avoid overcharges.
3. How does this affect you and what can you do?
We offer you a free review!
The impact of these changes is not the same for every customer. Instead of simply absorbing the increase, the best way to prepare is to review your current real usage, compare it against the new model and detect optimization opportunities before your renewal.
To help you through this transition, at Quabu we offer a free review of your Jira environment. Through a detailed analysis, we will help you understand which part of the cost comes from the general price increase and which part depends on your own consumption. 👇👇👇
